Metlon Corp.

Metlon Corp.

Description

The Metlon story starts in 1947 with the formation of the present company to manufacture metallic yarns for decorative textiles. Metallic yarns are manufactured by slitting thin gauge metalized films and foils to extremely narrow widths. Metlon designed, built and operated the special machinery to slit narrow, continuous metallic yarns. With the shift of manufacturing to the China, and the Orient, the need for metallic yarn in the US has diminished. While metallic yarns were no longer “cutting edge,” Metlon re-engineered its machinery, experience in slitting, as well as its business model to address new business needs: custom slitting to precision narrow widths. Today, Metlon continues to re-engineer its machine capabilities and its ability to build new machinery for its own use in contract slitting; to meet the very unique, specific and stringent needs required of each customer. As a result, Metlon has become a leader in the converting industry, serving the niche of those with the most unique demands, and the most demanding requirements of narrow widths and extreme tolerances. Metlon serves a wide variety of industries; in particular, the needs of those who have no slitting capabilities as well as those who need to supplement their existing capabilities. In addition, Metlon has the ability to work with research and design (R&D) specialists and engineers who need to create prototypes. Metlon takes pride in being a leader in the custom slitting and converting industry.
